The marine heptafluoropropane fire extinguishing device is a fixed fire extinguishing system using heptafluoropropane (HFC-227ea) as the extinguishing agent. It has three control modes: pneumatic remote control, mechanical manual and mechanical emergency manual. It can form a unit independent system or a combined distribution system to provide fire protection for a single area or multiple areas of the ship.

HFC-227ea is stored in liquid form. When sprayed out, it will quickly vaporize and expand, absorbing a large amount of heat and lowering the temperature of the fire. At the same time, as an inert gas, it can block the contact between the burning material and oxygen, playing the role of suffocating the fire.

HFC-227ea absorbs heat and pyrolyzes in a fire, producing fluorine-containing free radicals, which react with active free radicals such as H+, OH-, and O₂ produced in the combustion reaction, blocking the chain chemical reaction in the combustion process, inertizing the free radicals, and thus controlling the fire.
