What is a Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU)
A hydrostatic pressure release is a free-floating device (such as a life raft, satellite emergency position-indicating radio beacon, etc.) attached to a ship, which can be released automatically or manually when the ship sinks or otherwise needs to be released. Hydrostatic pressure releases on ships used for international voyages must be approved by the competent authority.
Two classic models - Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU)
"HAMMAR"
JSQ
HAMMAR |
Hydrostatic pressure releasers such as "HAMMAR" enter the water (no more than 4m) and compress the diaphragm under the action of water pressure to release the blade and cut the rope.
JSQ |
The hydrostatic pressure releaser, headed by the JSQ-Ⅲ type, enters the water (no more than 4m), seawater enters the water storage chamber, and the spring is compressed by the diaphragm, thereby releasing the chain hook and completing the shedding.
Two release methods - Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU)
1. Automatic release:
The hydrostatic pressure releaser will automatically cut the connecting rope at a depth of 1.5~4m in the seawater, thereby releasing the life raft.
Then, the inflation process of the life raft will be started due to the tightening of the bow cable, and finally the weak ring will be broken, so that the life raft will be completely separated from the hull.
2. Manual release:
The life raft can be lowered by opening the slip ring. Then, the inflation process of the life raft will be started due to the tightening of the bow cable,
Finally, the bow cable will be cut manually, so that the life raft will be completely separated from the hull.
