The principle of ozone technology for treating marine sewage is mainly based on the strong oxidizing property of ozone, as follows:
★Oxidation and decomposition of organic matter:
Domestic sewage contains a variety of organic pollutants. Ozone can oxidize and decompose its macromolecular organic matter into small molecular substances, such as carbon dioxide and water, to reduce the chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) of sewage, making it easier to be removed by subsequent treatment units or meet emission standards.
★Sterilization and disinfection:
Ozone can destroy the cell walls and cell membranes of microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, and then penetrate the cells, react with enzymes, nucleic acids and other substances in the cells, and make them inactive, thereby achieving the purpose of sterilization and disinfection, and effectively removing pathogens in sewage.
★Deodorization and decolorization:
The odor and color in sewage are usually caused by some special organic or inorganic substances. Ozone can react chemically with these substances and oxidize them into colorless and odorless substances, thereby improving the sensory properties of sewage.
