Operation and maintenance of external fire fighting Fi-Fi system

Operation and maintenance of external fire fighting Fi-Fi system

1. Start the fire monitor

1.1 Turn the knob on the cab control panel from "standby state" to "open" position;

1.2 Open the bungee suction valve, close the pump outlet discharge valve, and open the bypass valve;

1.3 Confirm that the fire indicator light is on at this time;

1.4 Start the fire pump from the control panel;

1.5 Water is observed to flow out of the fire muzzle;

1.6 Open the pump outlet valve from the control panel;

1.7 Operate the control lever of the fire monitor, select water column/water mist or foam/water operation;

1.8 Start the water curtain system when needed;

1.9 Start the deck fire header when necessary.

2. Stop the external fire protection system operation, close the water curtain and the deck fire header

2.1 Detach as much as possible when idling;

2.2 Close the deck fire header valve;

2.3 Close the water curtain system valve;

2.4 Close the drain valve of the fire pump;

2.5 If you close this valve manually, you need to close it slowly to prevent water hammer;

2.6 Turn off the fire pump from the control panel;

2.7 Open all valves;

2.8 Close the suction valve of the fire pump;

2.9 Drain the water in the fire pump cleanly.

3. External foam fire fighting operations

3.1 Confirm that the fire pump is continuing to operate and the fire monitor is operating in foam mode;

3.2 Open the foam/water valve;

3.3 Close the drain valve of the pump outlet;

3.4 Open the outlet valve of the foam cabinet;

3.5 Open the foam proportional mixer valve and start the foam operation;

3.6 When stopping the foam operation, operate in the reverse order to stop.

4. Only activate the deck fire header

4.1 Connect the fire hose

4.2 Turn the knob on the control panel from "standby state" to "on";

4.3 Close the drain valve at the outlet of the pump and close the bypass valve;

4.4 Open the suction valve of the fire pump;

4.5 Open the outboard valve;

4.6 Open the main valve on the fire piping on the deck;

4.7 Close the fire hydrant on the deck fire header;

4.8 Confirm that the fire indicator light is on;

4.9 Start the fire pump from the control panel;

4.10 Open the fire hydrant on the fire header on the deck.

5. The external fire-fighting system is in standby state and needs regular operation and maintenance to ensure that the system is always available

5.1 Fire monitor: Manual and electric operation are required every month to check that the fire monitor is in normal working condition. Check the appearance and whether the bolts are loose at ordinary times;

5.2 Gear box: replace the lubricating oil and oil filter at the time recommended by the manufacturer. When the filter indicator turns red, the oil and filter must be replaced. When replacing, pay attention to the color of the oil and the metal fines content in the oil. If the oil turns white, then water has penetrated into the oil, which may cause insufficient lubrication and bearing wear. If the metal fines content is abnormal, professional testing must be carried out to prevent greater damage.

The oil cooler needs to be inspected and pressure tested every month. If the oil turns white or the pressure display leaks, replace the oil cooler.

Fire pumps and gearbox water seals and oil seals are routinely inspected monthly. If excessive leakage is found, professional inspection by the manufacturer is required.

At any time, if the fire pump has abnormal noise, abnormal water/oil leakage, abnormal oil temperature and oil pressure, vibration, etc., check immediately to prevent equipment damage.
